TRAINING COURSE DETAILS
As you may be aware from visiting other areas of this website, the Triple P System includes different levels of intervention. The Triple P Provider Training Options table may assist you in linking together the different levels of Triple P, how each level of the program is used in every day service delivery, the type of practitioner best suited to each of these programs and training prerequisites. It should be noted, you don’t have to work through all the levels to become an Accredited Triple P Provider as most levels of the system have stand-alone courses.
The right training course for individual practitioners or agencies depends upon the capacity with which you work with families, the kind of families you support and the level of support you provide to families.
Here are some examples of the level of Triple P required by different practitioners:
Example 1: Nurses working with families within a home visiting format or in a clinic setting with families most commonly train in the Primary Care and Group Triple P courses. This combination of courses allows nurses to work with families in a brief consultation format on a one-to-one basis, or in a group format.
Example 2: General practitioners, pediatricians, and family physicians working briefly with families typically train in Primary Care Triple P.
Example 3: Psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers working intensively with families presenting with multiple problems, are best suited to train in the Standard and Enhanced Triple P courses.
The Triple P Decision Tree may assist practitioners or agencies to decide which course/s are best suited to their delivery context
